FINDING YOUR LOVED ONE IN JAIL

Most people arrested for DUI in California will be released with a ticket to appear in court. They will also be given a pink DMV paper called a DS367 form signed under oath by the police officer who arrested you.

Others are held in jail until their first court date - these people usually have a severe case, or possibly they have warrants for arrest other than the current DUI drunk driving charge. After processing, people arrested for DUI in California usually go through a short time in jail to sober up.

After sober up period, if held, a person will be taken before a judge within 3 court days. There, a lawyer will be available to assist. Phone calls will be allowed.

To find your loved one, have their full name and date of birth - or other identifying information. Find the local jail's phone number in the local phone book or call information.

Almost everyone held in jail until the first court date will be entitled a reasonable bail or release on their own recognizance.
